Irish TV broadcaster wants new contract

A broadcaster is seeking to have its current contract renewed, amid ongoing concerns about a “crisis of confidence” within the industry.

The Irish Independent reported that RTÉ is seeking a new five-year contract.

The broadcaster, which is based in Dublin, has faced a “huge amount of pressure” since the election of US President Donald Trump.RTÉ has not yet responded to a request for comment.

It has been widely criticised for the lack of coverage of the recent US presidential election.
